Dove with an olive branch, Catacombs of Domitilla, Rome

dove and olive

My first thoughts are, peace. I've just sat with what I'm wanting to seed for the 2nd cycle of October and how I'm to do that this next week and sure enough olive branch and dove are now strong in my field, at the first instance yes peace and, almost like a surrender but not weakness, as in not waving a white flag. An offering to agree to disagree, type energy.

So this decode will bounce between the dove and the olive branch. While plants are very obvious I take into account all aspects of nature and animals presenting like this (that are not expected or 'native' to the country I live on then. Enough chitchat let's get into it.

There are loads of this symbolism throughout many religions, which could be enough of a distortion clearing in itself, releasing the negative factions from organic nature of the dove and of the olive). So I won't go into all of it, but the awareness of this is enough to comprehend and understand how complex this might be.

According to the biblical story (Genesis 8:11), a dove was released by Noah after the Flood in order to find land; it came back carrying a freshly plucked olive leaf (Hebrew: עלה זית alay zayit), a sign of life after the Flood and of God's bringing Noah, his family and the animals to land.

Doves and the pigeon family in general are respected and favoured because they are believed to have assisted the final prophet of Islam, Muhammad, in distracting his enemies outside the cave of Thaw'r {located near Mecca}, in the great Hijra. A pair of pigeons had built a nest and laid eggs at once, and a spider {n.b. an ally to the pigeons} had woven cobwebs, which in the darkness of the night made the enemies believe that Muhammad could not be in that cave. The Arabic word hijra means "departure" or "migration", among other definitions. It has been also transliterated as Hegira in medieval Latin, a term still in occasional use in English.

politics

Doves are often associated with the concept of peace and pacifism. They often appear in political cartoons, on banners and signs at events promoting peace (such as the Olympic Games, at various anti-war/anti-violence protests, etc.), and in pacifist literature. A person who is a pacifist is sometimes referred to as a dove (similarly, in American politics, a person who advocates the use of military resources as opposed to diplomacy can be referred to as a hawk).

Picasso's lithograph, La Colombe (The Dove), a traditional, realistic picture of a pigeon, without an olive branch, was chosen as the emblem for the World Peace Council in Paris in April 1949.[30] At the 1950 World Peace Congress in Sheffield, Picasso said that his father had taught him to paint doves, concluding, "I stand for life against death; I stand for peace against war."[31][32] At the 1952 World Peace Congress in Berlin, Picasso's Dove was depicted in a banner above the stage. Anti-communists had their own take on the peace dove: the group Paix et Liberté distributed posters titled La colombe qui fait BOUM (the dove that goes BOOM), showing the peace dove metamorphosing into a Soviet tank.[33]

[check victoria cottons blog post from a week or two back - what goes boum and interesting references there too].

The rock dove, due to its relation to the homing pigeon and thus communications, is the main image in the crest of the Tactical Communications Wing, a body within the Royal Air Force.

As well the olive branch is used in the 1885 great seal of the united states.

The idea of the olive branch opposing the bundle of thirteen arrows was to "denote the power of peace & war which is exclusively vested in Congress."

Moving on...

the dove representation of the Magician's Trick. Birds are one of the most popular animals that magicians use. They are easy to train, and they can be used to perform many tricks. Magicians sometimes even use doves because they have a calming effect on people. They may use them as part of an illusion where they appear to vanish or reappear.

and of course VENUS is still extremely prominent in that Underworld clearing and here she pops her head in - I haven't forgotten about you Queen x

Doves are companions of Venus – the Roman Goddess of Love. Among the Celts, doves are believed to have healing characteristics. Celtic dove meaning is also peace and care for all living creatures. It is also the oracle of God. Dove is also mentioned in connection with the great massacre – the slaughter in which CuChulainn was killed.

Cú Chulainn

(/kuːˈkʌlɪn/ koo-KUL-in Irish: [kuːˈxʊlˠɪn̠ʲ], sometimes known in English as Cuhullin, is a warrior hero and demigod in the Ulster Cycle of Irish mythology, as well as in Scottish and Manx folklore. He is believed to be an incarnation of the Irish god Lugh, who is also his father. He was the greatest of the Knights of the Red Branch—i.e., the warriors loyal to Conor (Conchobar mac Nessa), who was reputedly king of the Ulaids of northeast Ireland at about the beginning of the 1st century BCE. Likened to the Greek Warrior Achilles.

Flourished in the 3rd century - Red Branch Knights. Can't help but link Branch with tree branch right! or Family TREE.

Dove symbolism is associated with several mother figures:

  • The Mother Mary in Christian legend (care, devotion, purity and peace)

  • Ishtar in Assyrian culture (promise of hope and salvation)

  • Aphrodite and Venus (viewing the soul or a sense of higher love)

Okay I'll leave the dove there for now and get into the Olive Branch as I'm trying to be pulled into this heavy Irish grid being cleaned at the moment and I'll come back to that this afternoon. It's a whole huge thing on its own, of course.

Thinking of the olive I immediately am drawn to the Mediterranean.

noun

an offer of reconciliation; to show that you want to end a disagreement or quarrel.

a symbol of peact and victory with customs of ancient Greece connected to gods and persons in power.

Soooooo there's plenty of juicy info on ancient greece& rome out there. take your pick. Let's hone in and focus on lifting the tree out of the negative agenda grids, if I may. War, Politics, Religion.

The Roman poet Virgil (70–19 BC) associated "the plump olive"[9] with the goddess Pax (the Roman Eirene[6]) and he used the olive branch as a symbol of peace in his Aeneid:[10]

High on the stern Aeneas his stand, And held a branch of olive in his hand, While thus he spoke: "The Phrygians' arms you see, Expelled from Troy, provoked in Italy By Latian foes, with war unjustly made; At first affianced, and at last betrayed. This message bear: The Trojans and their chief Bring holy peace, and beg the king's relief."
pax romana

Given the current world events and that there is a significant figurehead king now in place, this felt fitting. Although peace was associated with the olive branch during the time of the Greeks, the symbolism became even stronger under the Pax Romana when envoys used olive branches as tokens of peace. Pax Romana is latin for 'Roman peace', and a period of 200years a golden age of increased and sustained Roman Imperialism. Roman trade in this region increased during this time. The romans sailed east to acquire silks, gems, onyx and spices.

In fiction
  • Isaac Asimov's fictional Galactic Empire and Foundation series refers to Pax Trantoria and Pax Imperium.

  • Pax Soprana is the sixth episode of the HBO original series The Sopranos.

  • In Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Reim's Peace is the Reim Empire's version of Pax Romana, established about 200 years prior to the events of the series by Empress Scheherazade. Reim is a nation based on the Roman Empire.

  • In the Street Fighter movie, antagonist M. Bison's ultimate goal is to unite the world "under the grip of Pax Bisonica".

  • In Fallout: New Vegas, Caesar aims to use his Roman-style army to create a new Pax Romana across the Mojave Wasteland.

  • First episode of season 4 of Gotham is known as "Pax Penguina".

as a remedy

for tiredness and exhaustion after an effort of some kind, physical, mental or long struggle against illness. The remedy gives us what we need to restore out strength and the faith we need to continue an effort.

"....Every time after she took her Olive tree, she called after some weeks to express her enthusiasm about the effect of the remedy....The remedy seems to work positively on the liver, regarding the white stools after the remedy, her original bitterness...."

Check out Olive's aura :P

in Closing the session

Stabilise energies and release all cords. Cleanse your tools.

As we close off we request the graceful stillness of the might gum:

That she teach us how to ground our roots deeply and firmly-

That she show us how to stand tall with strong & clear foundations through our core being-

That our branches continue to stretch & grow in blissful focused expansion reaching for the stars-

That her leaves provide through nourishing green nature energy and, resting shade from the storms.

Loving you from afar
Alana
